With a spree of wildfires lighting up Alberta in the last several weeks, the County of Grande Prairie and Sustainable Resource Development (SRD) have instituted both local and provincial fire bans.[...]

The City of Grande Prairie will receive some cash to help repair areas along the Bear Creek reservoir and in the creek valley itself. The province has contributed $505,000 to repair six different spots along the banks, which were affected by slides caused by heavy rain in 2011.[...]
